Our rehearsals take place during school term times in the main hall at Larkmead School, Faringdon Road, Abingdon, OX14 1RF.  

The rehearsal times are on Monday evenings from 6.15pm to 8.15 pm.  

The orchestra meets during the Autumn term and Spring term only, each of which is followed by an end-of-term public concert.

This schedule has been designed with young people in mind.  The focus on Autumn and Spring terms is to avoid rehearsals during the main 16+ and 18+ examination periods.  The timings are to ensure that no-one gets home too late during term time.  We recognise that travelling to Abingdon on Monday evenings can be challenging for some members and can advise you on the options.  We encourage car-sharing where possible; parents and carers are welcome to contact us if you are interested.  For orchestra members travelling from Oxford, there is also the X3 bus, which runs to Abingdon via the A34 - Larkmead School is about a 20 minute walk from the town centre.

We ask everyone to aim to arrive at Larkmead School by 6.10 pm at the latest to allow for checking in and getting prepared. There is a break in the middle of the rehearsal from about 7:10 pm to 7:20 pm.

As part of the TVYO experience, sectional rehearsals are held regularly, and we are fortunate to have excellent specialist tutors. These sectional rehearsals give our players the opportunity to practise tricky sections of the music in small groups, before consolidating what they have learnt with the rest of the orchestra in the 'full' rehearsals.
