Information for current TVYO players
TVYO Programme - Autumn 2026
Our season begins with a combined Introductory Evening and first rehearsal on Monday 7th September at 6.00pm (please note the earlier start time). Bringing everyone together on one evening allows us to welcome new and returning members, introduce the season and begin rehearsals straight away. We look forward to welcoming new players and their families to the TVYO community.
This year's repertoire has been chosen to challenge and inspire, helping our musicians develop
technical confidence, expressive playing, stylistic versatility and ensemble excellence. The artwork shown here reflects not only the theme of colour that runs through our season, but also a remarkable period of artistic change. In the early twentieth century, artists such as Wassily
Kandinsky transformed painting through bold colour and abstraction, while music was evolving
just as rapidly. At the heart of our season are two remarkable symphonies written only fifteen
years apart: Rachmaninov's Symphony No. 2 (1907), a masterpiece of Romanticism, and Nielsen's Symphony No. 5 (1922), a work that looks boldly towards modernism. Together, they capture a pivotal moment when composers, like painters, were reimagining what their art could become.

Practice parts - print out your own copies
We will also be sending parts out to you by email at the start of term, including tutor-bowed parts for the strings. The orchestral folders with the original parts are kept with the orchestra at all times. Please download and print out your own parts for practice purposes. We expect that you will take these to your lessons for further support from your instrumental teacher.
